This rare woolly mammoth upper jaw section with a P3 comes from a young animal. P3 teeth are the second of 6 rounds of teeth that the mammoths had throughout their life. Teeth in jaw sections are rarer than individual teeth. Moreover, baby mammoth fossils are very rare!

This incredible fossil was dredged from the bed of the North Sea in Holland - a world famous location for Ice Ae (Pleistocene) megafauna fossils, including Wooly Rhino, giant Irish Elk, and other marvellous prehistoric mammals.
Tooth measures 5.14 cm / 2.02 inches x  3.27 cm / 1.28 inches. Jaw section measures 10 cm / 3.9 inches long x 10.5 cm in 4.1 inches in height x 9.4 cm / 3.7 inches deep. Weight 255 grams

Interestingly, the Wooly Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) had 6 sets of teeth throughout its lifetime, which were progressively larger. They are designated as P2, P3, and P4, and M1, M2, M3.
